ABLE Accounts Have Arrived |
June 2, 2016 As of June 1st, STABLE, Ohio’s ABLE program, is the first ABLE account program in the country to open to the public. Get the details on how an ABLE account might help you in DB101’s Building Your Assets and Wealth article. If you have a qualifying disability that began before age 26, an ABLE account lets you build assets in an account that has tax advantages and isn’t counted by the Supplemental Security Income (SSI) or AHCCCS programs. This means that if you get a job, you can save up money without losing your benefits. More states will launch their ABLE programs in the coming months. Your ABLE account does not have to be in the same state you live in: You can choose the ABLE program you prefer. If you change your mind later, you can move your money from one ABLE program to another. Learn more about ABLE accounts in DB101’s Building Your Assets and Wealth article. |
